What Is Possible?

To me, there is one overriding thought or notion that carries with it as much inspiration, as much excitement and as much potential for affecting the world as any other I can fathom. That notion is simply the fact that any given individual holds within himself, the power to be, do or have literally anything his mind can conceive, completely regardless of perceived ability, past circumstance, or anticipated future. Assuming this to be true poses the question of what is really possible for us? What are the limits of human experience? What are the boundaries of our capacity to experience life in the human form? How great, how happy, how powerful could we be?

Let us for a moment step out of our current realities and perceive the world merely as it COULD be. Take a moment to mentally remove yourself from the world that you currently know to be real as we look just briefly to what is seemingly unreal. Let’s take a walk…

A man has a horrific accident and becomes paralyzed, losing all movement in both arms and both legs. After some time, amazingly, he learns using his will to move some of the fingers on one of his hands… an achievement completely unexplainable by science or reason. An event which by all account, historical or otherwise, is a total impossibility. His name was Christopher Reeve.

What is possible?

Tucked away in a mountain temple in China, a monk of many years uses his mind to move heavy objects without even the slightest physical touch, an act which to anyone but a monk seems unheard of. The temple is called Shaolin.

What is possible?

An entrepreneur floats his company on the stock market and earns $300 million in a single day: more money that most people would earn in 1000 lifetimes. This isn’t even uncommon, it happens all the time.

What is possible?

A Native American man runs non stop for 65 days in a row with almost nothing to eat. In fact it’s not even a special event for him as he does it with a large group of tribesmen all unconsciously capable of the same seemingly ludicrous feat. It is performed by these men once a year.

What is possible?

A professional clairvoyant derives coordinates from a map locked in the safe of a secret military bunker of which no one else on earth has any knowledge. Yep it’s been done.

What is possible?

These are just a few accounts of seemingly impossible feats being performed by human beings just like us every day. But here’s the clincher…

Contrary to most people’s opinion, the truth is that if someone can do something, ANYONE CAN DO IT! What’s possible for one person is possible for any person. The individuals described above are not unlike you or I. They have minds and they have bodies. The only difference is the way they have learned to use their features (particularly their minds) to achieve these ends. Anyone is capable of ANYTHING!

The tragedy of it all is that while we are all capable of everything, the majority of us rarely achieve anything, anything that is, relative to the phenomenal output of which we are capable. So what stands in our way?

We do!

What stands in our way are our own perceptions of what’s possible. Why do we think of the things mentioned above as impossible? The answer is because they are not within OUR reality. We don’t react to the world the way it is, we react to the world the way we perceive it to be. We react to thoughts and feelings and limitations as though they are real when in fact they are not! All limitations are an untruth, they are not real, they are a construct of our own minds! After all, the limitation of not being able to lift boulders with mind power doesn't exist in the monks mind... that's why he can do it! He lives in a different world, a world that he has created that offers him greater power and more opportunity... interesting huh?

In the words of famous Anais Nin, “We don’t see the world how it is, we see the world as WE are”. In our minds we have ideas, beliefs, convictions and opinions about the way the world is that influence what is possible for us and what isn’t possible. It is these internal goings on that cause our lives to fall far short of what they might otherwise be!

Want some exciting news? If you are willing, you can choose right now to live in a world with no limitations. With a simple decision you can have your life free of falsely created limitations and open yourself up to infinite possibility because limitations are NOT REAL! What would this mean for us, you ask?

Well, unlike the individuals above, few of us seek to be able to lift stone benches with mind power or run for two months in bear feet without taking a break. For us, ultimate possibility means different things. The point is, if the feats above are possible for humans, what is possible in YOUR life? Remember, a few minutes ago, the acts you just read about seemed like they weren’t possible? Imagine the things you think are impossible in your life at the moment… In light of this new knowledge, WHAT IS POSSIBLE?

How much happiness are you capable of?

What level of joy is it possible for you to achieve?

How much impact are you capable of having on the world?

How much money could you make?

What great feats are within your reach?

How completely could you fulfill everything you have ever dreamed of and MORE?

Whatever answers you pondered to these questions, take them and multiply them by 10 because NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. At this stage you aren’t even aware of the heights you could reach! You aren’t even aware! You don’t even know how blissful an experience you could have of the world! You don’t even know how amazing that would feel! You are capable of a level of happiness, love, connection, passion, excitement, enthusiasm, creativity, focus and power that is so great it’s completely beyond your comprehension! That’s how amazing ultimate possibility is!

And all you have to do is be open to it! Ultimate possibility isn’t reserved for a select few members of the population, it’s available to everyone: all you have to do is embrace it. All you must do is remind your mind of what it already knows: that anything it can rightfully conceive can be turned into a physical reality with nothing more than an unwavering conviction and continual focus.

Such is the magic of existence.

Imagine the difference in experiencing life from this perspective as opposed to from a world wrought with restriction, and limitation. The transition is like moving from a prison cell to an infinite expanse of freedom and joy.

Let these notions be an inspiration to you. Let them be an invitation to expand your boundaries. Let them be a prompt to cast off your current perceived limitations and disable the parasitic thought processes that are the reason most people don’t live lives of ultimate possibility. Go forth from today ever aware of what your life could be. Get ready to take action towards whatever it is you deem COULD BE for your own life.

Remember: What we COULD do is infinite, what we WILL do is finite.

Allow me to close with a quote by the great Tony Robbins:

“The only limitation to what you can have in your life is the size of your imagination and your level of commitment to making it real”.

Whatever you can envision is yours for the taking.

So what is possible… for you?
